"We Ludwig von Gotts Grace" - German-speaking documents Ludwigs des Bayern in comparison

In a new virtual exhibition on bavaricon German-language documents of the Roman King and Emperor Ludwig IV, called "the Bayer" (reg. 1314-1347, Emperor since 1328), are put into the center. In his reign, the importance of German language in the royal firm increases. After his reign, the Latin royal deed became an exceptional case. The exhibition also looks at the development of royal diplomas before and after Ludwig IV and addresses early examples of German texts in the non-royal document. Historically valuable source texts are documented by Ludwigs des Bayern in its pioneering role for the training of the newly high-German language.

The virtual exhibition is a joint project of State Archives of Augsburg and the professorship for German literature and language in Bavaria at the University of Augsburg. She was conceived by students from the Departments of History and German Studies at the University of Augsburg under the direction of archival director Dr. Thomas Engelke and professors Klaus Wolf and Thomas Krüger.

21.03.-20.05.2022: From the national park to the bee colony. 50 years Ministry of the Environment in Bavaria.

The small exhibition “From the National Park to the Beevolksbegehren” shows the diversity of the tradition of the environment stored in the Bavarian Main State Archive. 50 years of the Ministry of the Environment in Bavaria”, which until 20. May 2022 can be seen in the Bavarian Main State Archive. The Bavarian Ministry of the Environment was established in the European Nature Conservation Year 1970 by decision of the Bavarian Landtag. Since then, the environmental policy field has developed into a political-social long-term task with the aim of creating as much as possible equivalent and good living conditions throughout Bavaria. This includes a lively and healthy environment. Priorities in the history of the Ministry of the Environment were early environmental initiatives and educational measures, legislative initiatives such as the inclusion of environmental protection as a state goal in the Bavarian Constitution and the Bavarian Environmental Pact in 1995. There were also challenges such as environmental scandals, protests against the reprocessing plant in Wackersdorf, citizens' initiatives and popular desires. They also demonstrate the emergence of a new political culture of resistance and direct democracy. 25.04.2022: Archiving agreement between the Landesbund für Vogelschutz and the Bayerischer Hauptstaatsarchiv

25. In April 2022, Dr. Bernhard Grau, Director of the Main State Archives and Dr. Norbert Schäffer, Chairman of the Bavarian Association for Bird Protection (LBV), signed an archiving agreement. The agreement regulates the future transfer of the LBV association to the Bayerische Hauptstaatsarchiv. The Landesbund für Vogelschutz is one of the oldest and most important environmental associations in Bavaria. His tradition dates back to the founding year 1909. The new acquisition focus of the Bavarian Main State Archives includes sources from the field of natural, environmental and climate protection as well as civic engagement. The state archives of Bavaria also take over non-governmental and private archives and collections. The written transmission of the Landesbund für Vogelschutz substantially complements the stocks already stored in the Bayerische Hauptstaatsarchiv for environmental and climate protection. The largest group of private traditions form the estates of important personalities: Prof. Dr. Hubert Weiger (born in 1947), forest scientist, long-term chairman and current honorary chairman of BUND Naturschutz in Bayern e.V., BUND and member of the Coal Commission of the Federal Government and many other bodies. He will be present at the signing of the agreement. Dr. Hans Bibelriether (born 1933), Förster, long-term director of the first German National Park “Bayerischer Wald” and a recognized expert in the national park movement. Sepp Daxenberger (1962–2010), Mayor and Minister of State of Bündnis 90/The Greens and their co-country chairman. 21.04.2022: Olympic posters from the poster collection of the Bavarian Main State Archive available online

Itotal of 90 posters for Olympic Games from 1964 to 1972 are over finder database of the Bavarian State Archives available online. These include four recently acquired event packages of the ecclesiastical services among the Olympic summer games in Munich. The concept of “Heitere Spiele” included a separate, modern and colored picture language. This idea followed – besides the signs of the sports facilities – public work and advertising material. Especially the posters still provide a good insight into the concept at that time. There are various series at the Olympic posters: posters to Olympic individual disciplines, art posters of renowned artists and advertising posters for the cultural and ecclesiastical accompanying program. For example, the great orchestra and ballet companies of the world appeared during the games in Munich. These official poster series were created on behalf of the International Olympic Committee as organisers, which also manages the rights of use. A few additional posters refer to other accompanying events such as an exhibition by the Bavarian National Museum. The poster collection of the Bavarian Main State Archive contains over 50,000 posters. 02.06.2022-15.07.2022: Act and songbook. Church and State in Central France

The Landeskirchliche Archiv der Evangelisch-Lutherischen Kirche in Bayern (LAELKB) and the Staatsarchiv Nürnberg will present a joint exhibition at LAELKB from 2 June to 15 July 2022. Since spring 2020, during the renovation and expansion of its buildings in Archivstraße 17, the State Archives has sold most of the collections before 1800 in rented LAELKB magazines. A part of the exhibits is therefore temporarily under a roof. In view of the two archivists, a discussion of the relationship between the Church and the State was offered as a topic. The Landeskirchliche Archiv preserves church documents from the entire Free State. The State Archive Nuremberg is responsible for the written delivery of the state authorities and courts in Central Franconia. Therefore, we have spatially limited the subject: "Church and State in Central Franconia". The exhibits range from the Reformation period to the present. In selected examples, both mutual proximity and conflicts between state and church are clear. For example, in the introduction of the Reformation, in the 18th century, there is a closeness to the process of reforming. Centuries in the construction of numerous churches in the Markgraftum Brandenburg-Ansbach, which are today called Markgrafenkirchen, as well as after 1800 in schools and in the participation of the pastors in vaccinations. Conflicts occurred both in the age of absolutism with the lifelong imprisonment of an Anglo-Saxon court preacher and confessor as well as in the time of the Nazi dictatorship with prison sentences against priests because of statements that seem rather harmless from today's point of view. There were also frictions during the transition of Franconian territories to the Kingdom of Bavaria after 1806. 25.01.2022: Nachlass Bezirkstagspräsident a.D. Dr. Georg Simnacher (1932-2014) transferred to the Staatsarchiv Augsburg.

The estate of District President a.D. Dr. Georg Simnacher (1932-2014) has been kept in the state archive of Augsburg since summer 2021. In 2009, Günzburg's long-standing Land Council and district president of Schwaben concluded a donation agreement with the Staatsarchiv Augsburg, which regulates the later acquisition of his written estate. After a vision and preordination by Simnacher Witwe Ms. Ursula Simnacher, the estate was handed over to the state archive of Augsburg. There the estate is archived and protected conservatively. He is available for inspection on the basis of the Bavarian Archives Act. The documents complement the official tradition of the state archives of Augsburg, especially the state council offices and the government of Schwaben. Dr. Georg Simnacher decided early for a political career. After studying law in Munich and Erlangen and law-historical doctorate, the CSU politician has already become a Landrat of Günzburg with 34 years of age. He had this office from 1967 to 1996. From 1974 to 2003, he was also the President of the District of Schwaben. The “Schwabenherzog”, as he was lovingly called, was also president of the association of Bavarian districts initiated by him from 1979 to 2003 (now Bavarian District Day). Here he strengthened the reputation of the districts as the third municipal level in Bavaria and gave their concerns hearing. Simnacher has left deep traces of health care and social policy, as well as the cultural and home care of Schwaben. Simnacher's private writing includes, in addition to biographical material (interferences, certificates, certificates) and documents from professional activity (acquisition documents before the circular or district day, papers, speeches and greetings, press collection), also private correspondence (accordings of many well-known political companions) as well as material on individual projects that were particularly close to his heart as District Presidents. These include the renovation of the former monastery church of Irsee and the establishment of a Swabian educational centre there, the rehabilitation of the Kurhaustheater in Augsburg or the decentralization of the district clinics in Kaufbeuren and Günzburg. 12.02.2022: Bayerisches Hauptstaatsarchiv takes over the family archive Bayrhammer

The Bavarian State Archive with the family archive Bayrhammer takes over the estates Gustl Bayrhammer and his father Max Bayrhammer. The family archive contains personal documents, awards and memorabilia of the actor dynasty Bayrhammer from 1870. This secures the written testimonies of this “artisticly ambitious family” (Gustl Bayrhammer) for the future and makes it accessible to research. Especially Gustl Bayrhammer (1922–1993), who was on 12. February 2022 would have become 100 years old, so far many are regarded as the epitome of the Bavarian folk actor. Like his father Max (1867–1942), he worked on many stages throughout the German-speaking world. To complement official tradition, the Bayerische Hauptstaatsarchiv secures estates of political and socially important personalities. The takeover of the family archive Bayrhammer takes place on the basis of a donation agreement on the basis of the public interest and the supra-regional importance of the subcontracted persons. Max Emanuel Bayrhammer on the 26th Born in Lower Bavaria in May 1867 as the son of a castle administrator. He took acting lessons and quickly found access to large stages, often with classic main roles. He performed at the Gardenerplatztheater Munich, the Stadttheater Wroclaw, the Weimarer Hoftheater, the Wiener Volkstheater or the Schauspielhaus Frankfurt. After the end of the First World War, the role offers became less, already from the early 1920s, he joined NSDAP fans as an entertainer and after 1933 at events of the NS organization “force through joy”. In precarious economic circumstances, he lasted only with a small doped stage contract at the Bavarian National Theatre on Water. His performances as the author of stage pieces are forgotten today. His 1922-born son Gustl (actually Adolph Gustav Rupprecht Maximilian) Bayrhammer first received a commercial training. After his convocation in the Wehrmacht, Gustl Bayrhammer used the stationing in Berlin for a theatre training at the Schiller Theatre under Heinrich George and Gustav Gründgens. After the end of the war, together with Toni Berger (1921–2005), he took a first engagement at the Hohenzollerische Landestheater Sigmaringen. There he also met his later wife, actress Irmgard Henning (1919–2003). After more than two decades on different stages (e.g. Augsburg, Karlsruhe, the Luisenburg Festival Wunsiedel and the Landestheater Salzburg), he went to Munich in 1967. Since then, he has been involved in the Munich Chamber Games, the Münchner Volkstheater and the Bayerische Staatsschauspiel. Gustl Bayrhammer became famous throughout the country through his TV career. As the first Bavarian investigator in the TV series "Tatort", he appeared in 15 episodes nationwide between 1972 and 1981. The television role with which it is most often associated across generations is that of the “master Eder” in the children’s series “Pumuckl”. In this international large production with at the time extremely elaborate trick drawings, he brilled as a sympathetic-grantian carpenter. Max and Gustl Bayrhammer made their own understanding of their performances as a theatre actor. The family archive is documented by special biographical documents: Gustl Bayrhammer led over each of his roles book. The recordings range from the first performance at Theater Sigmaringen on 27th. November 1945 until his last appearance on 21st January 1993 in Munich. This written information is accompanied by equally carefully designed photo albums. His father, on the other hand, collected the theatre records and stage programs of his performances, so that his professional path can also be well tracked. As a curiosity, the family archive contains a whole range of awards and honours such as the Bavarian Film Award, the Bambi, the Bavarian Order of Merit and even a Golden Record for the Pumuckl-Hörspiele. 02.11.2021: Training for the third level of qualification of the training and science course, specialized focus on archives

On 2 November 2021, 13 candidates from the three-year preparatory service in the field of archiving started University of Applied Sciences in Bavaria. As part of their dual studies, the prospective graduate archivists will be taught in about two dozen subjects, ranging from German and Latin writing to archive management teaching, to the highly topical "Digital Archiving", which will teach craftsmen for their future profession. With three internship sections in different archives, the theoretically learned is transferred to practice. The Director-General of the State Archives, Dr. Margit Ksoll-Marcon, was pleased to see that, in addition to the six public participants, seven young people from municipal archives complete the training. “Not only in the light of upcoming retirements, there is still urgent need for committed and qualified young people, both at the state and at the local level. 06.10.2021: Presentation of Dr. Klaus Rupprecht as new head of the Bamberg State Archive

On 5 October 2021, archive director Dr. Klaus Rupprecht became publicly a new head of the State Archives Bamberg presented. He took over this task as early as July 1, 2021 and followed archive director Dr. Christian Kruse, who moved to the State Archive Nuremberg as head of May 1, 2021. Dr. Christian Kruse led the Bamberg State Archive from 1 December 2018 to 30 April 2021. After studying history and German for the Magisterium at the Universities of Erlangen and Vienna, he received his doctorate in Erlangen with a work on “Franz Friedrich Anton von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld 1750–1806”. He completed his training as a scientific archivist at the Bavarian Archive School in 1988 until 1991, after which he worked in the Bavarian Main State Archives, in the State Archives of Augsburg, Nuremberg and Munich and from 2008 to 2018 in the Directorate-General of the Bavarian State Archives. Dr. Klaus Rupprecht, a native of Upper Franconia, studied history, anglistics and social studies at the University of Bamberg for the Teaching Office of Gymnasium. He received his doctorate with a dissertation on the topic of “Ritterisches Fürstentruung in Franken. The history of Guttenberg in the late Middle Ages and at the beginning of the early modern period”. After his lecture on the scientific archivist at the Bavarian Archive School in 1993 to 1996, Klaus Rupprecht worked in the Bavarian Main State Archive in Munich, came to the Bamberg State Archives in 1997, where he was Deputy Head and Speaker for Disclosure and Stock Issues since 2000. Since 1 November 2016 he has been head of the state archive Würzburg. With his appointment to the head of the Bamberg State Archives, he returned to his roots. In recent years, the Bamberg State Archive has been able to inaugurate and obtain an additional, modern magazine construction. In the next few years, public relations and public relations will be a special focus. It is also considered particularly important to strengthen the significance of the Bamberg State Archive as a centre of regional historical research. In addition, numerous nationally important nobility archives (e.g. Counts of Giech, Freelors of Guttenberg) as well as important personal estates and collections belong to the main areas of tradition. 23.07.2021: Bavarian Janus 2021 award in Passau

Friday, 23. In July 2021, Mr Bernd Sibler, MdL, Dr. Rolf-Dieter Jungk, head of office of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art, presented the Bavarian Janus 2021 at Passau City Hall. The “Bayerische Janus” for special merits about the archives is usually awarded within the framework of the Bayerische Archivtage, which, however, was postponed to 2023 due to the pandemic. The Roman god Janus with his double face stands as guardians of doors and gates for the past and future. It symbolizes the archives that keep historical sources of the past for the future. This year the prize goes to Mr. Magister Petr Hubka, Director of the Pilsen/Plzeň State Archive a. D. Mr. Mag. Hubka is the decisive force of the now more than ten years of collaboration between Bavarian and Czech archives. In several projects, the state archives from Bavaria and Bohemia have the source platform “Porta fontium” (www.portafontium.eu) created. Historical documents from the archives of both countries are brought together in digital form and thus new impetus for cross-border historical research. The common platform is equally well accepted by citizens of both countries. Thanks to Mr Mag's commitment. Hubka meanwhile exist between Bavarian and Czech archivists collegial and friendly relations. The prize winner has not only promoted the cooperation of archives from both countries, but has brought the two countries closer together in this area. The award, a bronze casting in the form of a double face, was created by the artist Monika Jokiel living in Passau.
