Bavarian-Czech cooperation project to expand the Porta fontium source platform and develop a platform to promote cross-border local history.

The aim of the one-year project is to supplement the source platform Porta fontium for stocks that are of particular importance for home and family research. From the Pilsen Regional Archives and its district archives Eger and Karlovy Vary, council protocols to the Western Bohemia municipalities are opened and digitized. On the Bavarian side, the collection “Briefberichte Waldsassen” was selected from the Amberg State Archive. The 550 volumes are digitized throughout the project and then made available online on Porta fontium. In order to extend the search possibilities, all individual entries are recorded for a part of the volumes. With the help of the new datasets it will be possible to search in the volumes for individual persons or places mentioned in the logs of the Land and Pfleggericht Waldsassen. In this way, a unique data scrap is created into a cross-border region.

Another goal of the project is to create a structure for a digital home science as a separate area on Porta fontium. Historical sources from the border area should be digitally and searchable, structured and related to individual locations. A source-supported local encyclopaedia is to emerge. Introduction texts, the embedding of other online offers and the linking with already available digital sources are to round off the offer. Persons and institutions with historical sources of funding should be invited to participate. For educational purposes, a separate IT-based tool for easy entry into source work is planned. The implementation of the teaching tool is to be carried out in a follow-up project.

The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Objective ETZ Free State of Bavaria – Czech Republic 2014–2020 (Interreg V).
