Publication of the Lectures on the 2nd Archive Science Special Discussion of the Bavarian State Archives on 28 November 2019 in Munich in AZ 98/2022.

Archives were not always open sites of research. In the times of the old empire before 1800, and still in part beyond, they were rather considered as places that were subject to access restrictions. The documents, official books and files stored in them secured legal and domination titles and documented processes from the innermost circle of the rulers. In times when the social order was based on privileges and property titles, archives were therefore regarded as treasury chambers and rulers.

The talks on "Archive in the Old Reich as instruments of rule" are published in the Archival magazine 98 (2022).
