A part of the joint project is the first-time gathering and online presentation of historical maps and plans for the common Czech-Bavarian history until 1918 from Bavarian and Czech archives. These are to be made accessible and researchable in a clear manner. An image analysis of selected and digitized maps is therefore carried out. Based on this analysis, a segmentation and keyword is implemented. The user then sees the data in clear layers (texts, images with description). Another offer concerns the search in handwritten chronicles for extracted image patterns. You can thus limit the search results to those pages in which a part of the text can be found (e.g. “Kloster”), if necessary Photos similar to the template. Another project goal is the development of intelligent full-text access to documents. First selected characters are visually converted into text form. These documents are then analyzed by methods of linguistic data processing. The user can search for certain terms and then receives all the answers identified as relevant, regardless of the spelling. Finally, the project results of the specialist and lay public will be presented through workshops and training. The portal thus serves the professional and lay publicity to a greater extent than before. At the same time, feedback is obtained from users who are to help implement the sub-targets. During the project implementation, experts from both neighbouring countries are networking from different fields: history, historical research, archaeology and computer science.
