11.10.2021: 100. Day of death King Ludwig III.
100. King Ludwigs III dedicate the Bavarian State Archives to the last Bavarian king Online presentation. Written considerations of the king’s to a European “federation of states” which have not yet been disregarded by research are presented. The unlocking took place on Monday, 11. October 2021 on the occasion of a visit by the Head of the Bavarian State Chancellery, Minister of State Dr. Florian Herrmann, MdL, and SKH Herzog Franz von Bayern in the Bavarian Main State Archive. The First World War and the November Revolution in 1918 led to the end of the monarchy in Bavaria. The last Bavarian King Ludwig III fled from Munich on 7 November 1918. He spent the rest of his life at Schloss Wildenwart im Chiemgau, Austria, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and Hungary. Ludwig III died 76 years on 18th. October 1921 at Nádasdy Castle in Sárvár in Hungary. The state archives of Bavaria preserve diverse testimonies from the life of the last monarch. Some selected special pieces from the Bavarian State Archive, Department III Secret Home Archive and Department V Estates and Collections and State Archive Munich are presented in an online presentation. 07.10-14.11.2021: Night lights. From dark to light
On Thursday, 7. In October 2021, Dr. Rolf-Dieter Jungk, head of office in the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art, opened the light show “Nighter. From the dark to the light.” The show is a cooperation between the Bavarian State Archives and the Digital Media Artists Thomas Mahnecke and Angelika Meindl. The realization is promoted by the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art as part of the program Kultur.Digital. What to see in a state archive? What is hidden in these buildings? In the dark, the facade of the ↗State Archives Munich (Schönfeldstraße 3) into a colorful outer platform. The light show “Nighter. From the dark to the light“ brings outstanding cultural goods from the broad tradition of all the state archives of Bavaria to the public space. They become visible and experienceable. 06.10.2021: Presentation of Dr. Klaus Rupprecht as new head of the Bamberg State Archive
On 5 October 2021, archive director Dr. Klaus Rupprecht became publicly a new head of the State Archives Bamberg presented. He took over this task as early as July 1, 2021 and followed archive director Dr. Christian Kruse, who moved to the State Archive Nuremberg as head of May 1, 2021. Dr. Christian Kruse led the Bamberg State Archive from 1 December 2018 to 30 April 2021. After studying history and German for the Magisterium at the Universities of Erlangen and Vienna, he received his doctorate in Erlangen with a work on “Franz Friedrich Anton von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld 1750–1806”. He completed his training as a scientific archivist at the Bavarian Archive School in 1988 until 1991, after which he worked in the Bavarian Main State Archives, in the State Archives of Augsburg, Nuremberg and Munich and from 2008 to 2018 in the Directorate-General of the Bavarian State Archives. Dr. Klaus Rupprecht, a native of Upper Franconia, studied history, anglistics and social studies at the University of Bamberg for the Teaching Office of Gymnasium. He received his doctorate with a dissertation on the topic of “Ritterisches Fürstentruung in Franken. The history of Guttenberg in the late Middle Ages and at the beginning of the early modern period”. 16.08.2021: Change of office in the state archive Würzburg
With effect from September 1, 2021, archive council Dr. Alexander Wolz M.A. is appointed as head of the state archive Würzburg. He follows archive director Dr. Klaus Rupprecht, who joined the Bamberg State Archive as head of July 1, 2021. Dr. Klaus Rupprecht studied History, Anglistik and Social Studies at the University of Bamberg for the Magisterium at Gymnasium. He received his doctorate on “Ritterliches Dominique in Franken. The history of Guttenberg in the late Middle Ages and at the beginning of the early modern period”. After his lecture on the scientific archivist at the Bavarian Archive School in 1993 to 1996, Klaus Rupprecht first worked at the Bayeri Main State Archive in Munich and since 1997 at the Bamberg State Archives. He then led the Würzburg State Archive from 1 November 2016 to 30 June 2021. Alexander Wolz, who grew up in Kitzingen, studied history, folk studies and political sciences at the University of Würzburg. His thesis deals with the topic "The City of Kitzingen and the Rise of National Socialism", he received his doctorate with a dissertation on the topic "The Rhineland Crisis 1936. The Federal Foreign Office and the Locarnopakt 1933-1936. Alexander Wolz worked at the city archive Lohr am Main.
